Creating Applications with Controls

The next step in creating application controls is to assemble the application.

In this demonstration, you will be building an application that uses filter controls and the visuals State Line Graph and State Table Data.

  1. In the main navigation bar, click Apps.
  2. Click New App.

  3. In the left navigation, in the Visuals tab, make the following selections:

    1. Under (connections) icon, choose samples.
    2. Under (datasets) icon, choose US State Populations over time.

  4. Click the State Line Graph, and then State Table Data, to add them to the application.
  5. In the left navigation, click the Filter tab.

    There, ensure that your selections for connection and dataset are correct.

    1. Under (connections) icon, choose samples.
    2. Under (datasets) icon, choose US State Populations over time.

  6. Under Dimensions, click state.

    Note that the filter item appears in the application, above the visuals.

  7. Under Measures, click year.

    Note that the additional filter item appears in the application to the right of the first visual item, above the visuals.

  8. Name the application. Here, we used State Data, Filtered.
  9. In the top left corner of the screen, click Save to save State Data, Filtered to save the application.
