Refreshing Analytical Views

After defining an analytical view but before using it, an initial 'refresh' query must run to create the cache, and put the analytical view into a valid state, or 'up to date'.

Additionally, you may find that analytical views may become stale or invalid for a variety of reasons, and must be refreshed. In some circumstances, such as change in the name of a column, an invalid analytical view may be validaded through the refresh process. At other times, such as when a column is removed from a table, a refresh is not possible; the analytical view remains invalid. You should then delete it and create a replacement analytical view.

Follow these steps to perform an initial refresh of the analytical view, to build it in the cache. Very similar steps

  1. Click icon (refresh) to refresh the analytical view geo.national_geo_features_av_1.

  2. After requesting a refresh of an analytical view, a progress bar appears below the status indicator. It first states that the refresh is queued, or 'waiting to start', and then informs you of the approximate time left. During the queueing and active refresh, you can cancel the refresh simply by clicking (close) icon.
