Custom Descriptions

By default, a field's description is identical to how it is represented on a shelf of the visual.

To set a custom description, follow these steps.

  1. When creating or editing a visual, determine which field variable requires a better description.

The shelves that support the description option correspond to the columns of a table visual, to the axes of a chart visual, and to the trellising dimensions.

  2. Click the icon to the right of the variable.
