Managing Activity Logging

The activity log sequentially orders and displays all recorded events generated by the data processing requests.

The activity log can be viewed either as a list, or in a statistical report.

Availability Notes:
  • This feature is on by default; logging the data processing requests is automatic.
  • This feature is available only to users with administrative privileges.
  • This feature is in Beta mode.

To view logging activities, follow these steps:

  1. On the main navigation bar, click (gear) icon to open the Administration menu.

Administration menu; shows App Groups (active), Set Homepage, and Site Administration that includes Activity Log, Users & Groups, Manage Roles, Custom Styles, and Site Settings
  2. In the dropdown, click Activity Log.

The Activity Log interface appears, in default list view.

  3. In the Activity Log interface, note the following features that are common to both the List View and Statistical View of this interface:

    • At the top left:

      1. The Refresh queries option, when selected, automatically refreshes the information in this interface at regular intervals.

The default refresh time interval is 60 seconds.

      2. The Only display queries generated by visuals option, when selected, limits reporting to actions on visuals.

This means that actions on datasets, connections, and so on, are not reported.

      3. The Show Stats option toggles between showing or hiding statistics on activity logging.

        See Statistics View.

    • At the top right:

      1. Last fetch reports the timestamp at the time that the query was generated, such as April 30, 10:37 PM.

Note the Refresh option discussed earlier.

      2. Queries shows the number of queries reported.

By default, this number is 215.

Clicking on the (plus) icon increases the number of queries to 300, and then again by increments of 100.

Clicking on the (minus) icon reduces the number of queries by increments of 100, down to 215.

      3. Time Span reports the time interval covered by the log, such as Mar 31, 4:06PM to Apr 30, 4:50PM.

Examine the List View of the Activity Log and Statistical View of the Activity Log to obtain more detailed information.
